Lee Levin and Chris Zalles of The Voters stop by The Palin Radio Update with Kevin Scholla! Liberals may control the media but The Voters are taking back the music. The Voters are a completely independent, grass roots band trying to encourage people to get informed before voting in the 2012 election. Lee and Chris talk to Kevin about Sarah Palin and their songs like ‘Blame It On Bush’ and ‘America’s Coming Back’. Also, Governor Palin reflects on 9/11. Plus, Palin challenges Obama on his handling of the latest international unrest. Listen NOW! SarahNET Radio is ON DEMAND and available for DOWNLOAD anytime!
Gov Palin Connects with People
“When [we] listen to the lyrics of your tracks [Former Alaska Governor] Sarah Palin has been saying the same things you have been saying without the musical accompaniment,” Scholla said. He asked the musicians what they think of her.
“Like you said, she’s been saying the same things and I wish more people would take her seriously, because people tend to get lost in what she’s portrayed to be and not what she’s really saying, which is solid.” Zalles said.
“For me, the beauty of Sarah Palin is the way she connects with people. I mean, we have such a difficult time with many of our politicians, where they speak political-speak and they don’t actually talk the same language every-day Americans talk. And she does such a great job being able to connect with people and get the message across. You know, obviously the way the media has portrayed her is quite unfortunate, but she is one of my favorites,” Levin said. He also expressed his admiration for Mike Lee and Ted Cruz.
Music and Politics
Scholla played both ‘Blame It On Bush’ and ‘America’s Coming Back’ which are scored in a classic rock format. The Voters Music uses comedy in some of their songs and slow patriotic themes in others. Levin and Zalles hope that they’ll get the conservative message out to younger voters via their music, which is available on CD and iTunes.
They said they are musicians first and “don’t want their audience to take their words as gospel or think like them.” Printed lyrics on the band’s website link to articles relevant to the issues being sung about so that listeners can decide for themselves.
The band is based in Florida’s 23rd Congressional District – Debbie Wasserman Shultz’s district – which they say gives them plenty of material to work with. American Grizzlies United-supported Karen Harrington is running against Schultz. Scholla interviewed Harrington in a “Florida Showdown” episode which went to press on US for Palin on August 13. SarahNET Radio‘s new series, “Breaking it Down with Bristol” is to begin after Bristol Palin debuts on this season’s Dancing with the Stars next Monday.
